The Qatari Forum for Authors has launched a children’s book entitled “The Camel Issah” by the writer Asma Al-Kuwari, which was published by Nabka Publishing House, as part of the activities of Doha, the capital of Islamic culture for the year 2021.
Writer Asmaa Al-Kuwari explained that the book expresses the Qatari heritage and environment, trying to reach the child indirectly to our identity, customs and values, noting that the children’s book must elevate its idea with our literature and be a fine art that can be read and enjoyed.
Also this art must present an aspect of our culture, and our identity to the child, explaining that the drawings in the book should express the subject of the story and convey the local culture to the reader.
Al-Kuwari said: “Children’s literature must plan and know the target group, taking into account the psychological and intellectual aspects of the child, and that the literary work includes an aspect of truth, even if it depends on imagination. The story is a seed that we put in the child’s mind, which we must take into account and be compatible with his environment and culture”.
Regarding the language used in the book, she said that she adopted a simple language suitable for the age group from 6 to 9 years, in addition to promoting imagination.
