The Qatari Forum for Authors held the twenty-fourth session of the “Mirqat Qatar for Oratory”, as part of the activities of Doha, Capital of Culture in the Islamic World 2021, with the participation of three orators, which is broadcast on its YouTube channel to enhance the spirit of competition among the participating orators.
At the beginning of the session, Muhammad Al-Shabrawi, the language partner of “Mirqat Qatar for Oratory” initiative, gave a speech about rhetoric and its components and historical stages, stressing that the success of the sermon requires the sermon’s knowledge of the subject that he talks about, and the knowledge of the addressing audience in order to be able to influence negatively or positively.
During the session, the participants competed in the written sermons, where Maryam Al-Subaie presented her fifth written sermon in Al-Mirqat sessions, in which she spoke about her field of work in a literary style, followed by a written sermon by Ahmed Azab, which is a letter of apology within the framework of the efforts of Al-Mirqat to revive the literature of correspondence and communication With real or virtual people, the sermon was titled: (The Holy Apology). Samar Munib also participated in a written sermon on International Women’s Day.
After that, the arbitrators had the floor. Each arbitrator presented the most important strengths of the sermon, such as realistic citations, and reaching the objectives of the sermon, as well as providing some advice to enhance the strength of the sermon.
