Qatar National Theater hosted a performance of the play “La Touqed Alluah”, yesterday evening. The play is introduced by Qatar University, as part of the activities of the second session of the University Theater Festival “Our Youth on the Stage”, which is currently organized by Theater Affairs Center under the patronage of His Excellency Mr. Salah bin Ghanem Al-Ali, Minister of Culture and Sports.
The theatrical performance was attended by Dr. Hassan Rashid Al-Derham, President of Qatar University and also a number of officials of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, as well as a group of artists and those interested in theatrical field, taking into consideration the precautionary measures against the Corona virus.
The name of the play is inspired from a popular Qatari proverb used by sailors. It is worth noting that the “Luah” is a bird surrounded by many insects and which disturbs the sailors by its annoying and powerful voice. The play is written and directed by Iman Al-Marri, and performed by Ibrahim Lari, Khaled Al-Hamidi, Muslim Al-Kathiri, Muhammad Seri, Ahmed Mia and Fouad Kart.
The play discusses the issue of abusing power and influence to serve personal interests and whims through the character of a university professor who does not take into account his conscience in his work.
The show also presents many projections related to the concerns of youth and the issues of the Arab world, which aim to turn human into an effective element in his society who rejects stereotyping and who has the ability to make positive change regardless of the conflicts and surrounding circumstances.
