The Qatari Forum for Authors held a new session of “Qatar Public Speaking Initiative”, as part of the activities of Doha Capital of Culture in the Islamic World 2021. During that session which titled “Written speeches” the participants gave a group of traditional speeches in the history of the Arabs.
A group of professors and professors in the Arabic language and those interested in it in Qatar from universities, ministries, institutions, centers and schools participated in the session.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Janabi, the linguistic expert and supervisor of the initiative, said that there are ten preachers registered in the Qatar Public Speaking initiative.
He sees that the session has a rhetorical dimension, which is the revival of the heritage, and it has a special goal that is reflected in the embodiment of the chosen character of his sermon, and the general dimension is to conform to the classical conservative doctrine in this type of speech.
Qatar Public Speaking Initiative alerted the contestants that the movement of the hands within the body language would be noticed and asked them to practice the tone of voice, with its high and low levels in the appropriate context, and its use in performance.
Dr. Jamil Babli evaluated Maryam Al-Subaie’s sermon. He emphasized that she was confident and ready. She gave an introduction placed us in the atmosphere of the text, and was able to embody the character of the girl when she says a sermon in her father, and she used her voice in a distinctive manner, up and down. In the end it was a distinct sermon, and she was able to revive this heritage.
From his part, Dr. Yahya Al-Mahdi evaluated Samia Al-Saadani’s sermon. He said that she performed a distinctive performance, as her heritage dimension was clear. Also she tried to embody the character, and she succeeded in that despite her being a woman, since the sermon is in jihad of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib.
Mr. Ahmed Al-Hizam, evaluated the sermon of Samia Abu Znad. He said: “The sermon was beautiful and brief, as the speaker was able to perform well, and the language was eloquent, I began with an introduction in which it paved the way for the sermon, and a beautiful picture was drawn for us of this Umayyad caliph, Suleiman bin Abdul Malik”.
In his turn, the Mr. Jihad Jaradat evaluated the sermon of Yasser Al-Wakeel, he confirm that Al-Wakeel had begun to be influenced by the personality of Omar bin Abdul Aziz, who was known as piety.
At the end of the session, Mr. Abdullah Al-Khalaf evaluated the sermon of Hussein Atwi. He said: “I commend the choice of this sermon in which Aktham bin Saifi, performed it in front of Kesra”.
