Discussing the book “Introduction to Quran Readings” within the activities of Doha, Capital of Culture in the Islamic World 2021

During the initiative of “A Dialogue With”, on Thursday evening, the Qatari Forum for Authors hosted the reciter, Dr. Muhammad Anani Nafa to discuss his book “Introduction to Quran Readings”, within the activities of Doha, Capital of Culture in the Islamic World 2021. The dialogue was ran by the history researcher, Dr. Ali Afifi Ali Ghazi.

The lecturer said, in the session that was broadcast on YouTube, that the well-known and frequent recitations of Noble Quran are divided into ten major and ten minor recitations, which are narrated from the reciters with their related sources from the Companions. He also added that the major readings are more general and comprehensive than the minor readings; In fact, one of the rare readings was the recitation of Quran in the era of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

Dr. Muhammad Anani added that “all the readings and their pronunciations were reported from the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and that those readings were transmitted by the Companions and then by the followers. The Companions agreed upon those readings, which were collected in the Mushaf of Othman bin Affan, may God be pleased with him, so each Companion taught as he learned.”

He continued: “In the era of the followers of the followers, men were devoted to reading, transmit and control Quran, and continued after that to teach it, so the reading method they were using became famous, and people used to follow it. As a result of that, that method of reading was attributed to those readers because they adhered to it, and not because they invented it. In fact, they transmitted it purely”.

Dr. Muhammad Anani clarified that there is no disagreement among scholars that learning the rulings of Tajweed and the readings of the Noble Quran is theoretically a collective duty, which means that it is not a duty for every Muslim to learn the science of Tajweed, except that some scholars must learn this science, so that the rest will not assume the sin.
